Art exhibition featuring still life works from local and regional artists as well as artists from across Australia, in this 'spill-over' exhibition from the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery's EMSLA 2008. A variety of activities will also be organised during this period, details of which will be published closer to the date.

Entry: $3 Adults; $2 Nursing home residents; $1 Children 5-15; Free for children under 5; $6 Family of 2 adults + up to 4 children.

Coffs Coast Artists Annual Art Exhibition

The Coffs Coast Artists (formerly Purple Palettes) are holding their annual exhibition at the Botanic Gardens Gallery from 21 - 27 November. Hours of opening are 10 am - 5 pm daily. All works are for sale at reasonable prices, showcasing traditional and contemporary styles and techniques in oils, watercolours, acrylics, pastels, pen and wash and mixed media. Entry is free and new members are welcomed to join our group.

97th Annual Dorrigo Show  
Date: 22-23 November

Venue: Dorrigo Showground

Full 2 day horse program is back at the Dorrigo Show as well as all of the favourites: carnival side shows, beef and dairy cattle judging, poultry, championship dog show, AARVBEE demolition derby ($1500 in prizemoney), goat judging, pet show, fun run, fireworks, and all the colourful displays of the fine arts and the pavilion. Rock the night away with the Freightliners and enjoy the fireworks on the Sunday evening. Take the opportunity to savour the famous "ladies pavilion" luncheon. Heaps of entertainment including baby animal farm, music, bush dog trials and much much more....

Scrapbook Marathon. 9am - 10pm. THEME : Christmas is coming! Christmas clothing optional. An opportunity to start, finish or make progress on Christmas cards, OTP projects, decorated boxes or bags and albums for gifts.

CHALLENGES : Bring ( or make on the day—before 11am please) 1.a Christmas themed card, these will be swapped later in the day and 2. a wearable name tag. 9am. Start 10.30am Stampin’ Up Demonstrations Refuel with Morning tea, Afternoon tea & Lunch when you feel the need! 2.30pm Creative memories Demonstration 6.15pm Dinner 10pm close. All day FUN—Lucky door prizes, raffle, guessing comp; Trading table –limited items for sale or bring something to sell, 10% of sales will go to the school. Please have your item clearly marked with owner and price. Swap table – bring something to swap. Display – bring albums or samples & share your work.

Chris Gudu returns with a celebration of the exhilarating sound of Zimbabwean Township Jive for a night of powerful rhythms and dance with his highly charged and sensational seven-piece band.

The Chris Gudu band completed a dynamic tour of Australia last year as they launched the album Bavimbeni, and now are set to deliver an even more passionate performance with the colourful rhythms of Zimbabwe and Southern Africa.

The inaugural Open Arms Festival 2008 is a music, arts, lifestyle and youth culture event featuring a fantastic line up of top Australian acts and talents. The festival will feature a range of musical genres, including rock, hip hop, metal, indie, roots, dance, street performances, art and culture.

The headline act of the night is a band that needs little introduction – Grinspoon, on the back of their hugely successful Alibis and Other Lies album. They will be supported by Aria award winning rock band Gyroscope, premier hard hitting live urban roots crew Blue King Brown and eccentric hip hop crew TZU.

Other performers will include; Mammal, Drapht, Dead Letter Circus, Young & Restless, Mind Electric, Whitt (Spiderbait), Thad Lester, Dubbly, Jungal, Beats Working, Cbd Dub Project, Lectro Static and DJ Different.

Rotary Cartoon Awards

The Rotary Cartoon Awards competition is designed to recognise the best of Australian and international cartoons with prizes totalling over $10,000.

The Rotary Cartoon Awards are sponsored by the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour City to raise funds for various Rotary charities and to promote cartooning through the Bunker Cartoon Gallery. All entries will become part of the Coffs Cartoon Collection. Exhibition open from 10am – 4pm, Monday to Saturday

The Valla Beach Community hold a market festival on the first Saturday of every second month focusing on home made and grown local produce in food, arts, crafts and fantastic musical talent. The event runs from 8am to 2pm in the beautiful landscaped grounds of the Valla Community Preschool, just east off the Pacific Highway on Valla Beach Road, Valla Beach, a serene and peaceful seaside village. Talented local musicians play throughout the day, creating a wonderful relaxing vibe to the venue.
