Art exhibition featuring still life works from local and regional artists as well as artists from across Australia, in this 'spill-over' exhibition from the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery's EMSLA 2008. The Coffs Coast Artists (formerly Purple Palettes) are holding their annual exhibition at the Botanic Gardens Gallery from 21 - 27 November. Hours of opening are 10 am - 5 pm daily. All works are for sale at reasonable prices, showcasing traditional and contemporary styles and techniques in oils, watercolours, acrylics, pastels, pen and wash and mixed media. Entry is free and new members are welcomed to join our group.

Chris Gudu returns with a celebration of the exhilarating sound of Zimbabwean Township Jive for a night of powerful rhythms and dance with his highly charged and sensational seven-piece band. The inaugural Open Arms Festival 2008 is a music, arts, lifestyle and youth culture event featuring a fantastic line up of top Australian acts and talents. The festival will feature a range of musical genres, including rock, hip hop, metal, indie, roots, dance, street performances, art and culture. The headline act of the night is a band that needs little introduction – Grinspoon, on the back of their hugely successful Alibis and Other Lies album. They will be supported by Aria award winning rock band Gyroscope, premier hard hitting live urban roots crew Blue King Brown and eccentric hip hop crew TZU. Other performers will include; Mammal, Drapht, Dead Letter Circus, Young & Restless, Mind Electric, Whitt (Spiderbait), Thad Lester, Dubbly, Jungal, Beats Working, Cbd Dub Project, Lectro Static and DJ Different.
The Rotary Cartoon Awards competition is designed to recognise the best of Australian and international cartoons with prizes totalling over $10,000. The Rotary Cartoon Awards are sponsored by the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour City to raise funds for various Rotary charities and to promote cartooning through the Bunker Cartoon Gallery. The Valla Beach Community hold a market festival on the first Saturday of every second month focusing on home made and grown local produce in food, arts, crafts and fantastic musical talent. The event runs from 8am to 2pm in the beautiful landscaped grounds of the Valla Community Preschool, just east off the Pacific Highway on Valla Beach Road, Valla Beach, a serene and peaceful seaside village.
